Decieved I use to live in Andorra, and surfed around Barcelona quite regularly. I'm now living back at home in sydney and must say that I have had some excellent days around there. I'm a bit dissapointed in the mentality though. It's true what this other guy says, when it's flat, every man and his dog's out there. When it's over 5-6ft, no one out...which is great! Less crowds!! But I'm descieved with the local mentality there. Too much die hard try hard, with all the gear that never gets wet... I'm a bit anoyed at the way they treat surfers from other areas. (And even the way they treat eachother...) Yet they constantly complain that no one gives the med enough recognition. If they would give up the grief, people would actually start to listen, and respect. p

Hu dudes & dudettes As an old school biker and bodyboarder, I´m deeply annoyed to read that there is any decent surf in and around Barcelona. In my case, we surf since ages down in Tarragona, which is half an hour away by car from BCN, and regularly we rip there the waves. Definitly we have more waves than in Switzerland as seen in http://surf.to/kalmatxitxa !!!

Local Masnou surfer. Hi there!!!I'm a local Masnou surfer. That's true, El Masnou is a shitty place compared to the standard surf spot, but sometimes it gets better than someone of you might think.I would like to get in contact with the switzerland surfer guy. I'm a surf history nut that wants to know more about that trip in El Masnou. I want to know more about an european guy who rode the California waves prior to the surf boom of the sixties. Can you prove that with pictures or something? Is it just a lie? Please, let me tell you.My e-mail is sanmiguelitodora@hotmail.comP.S. The guy who rules in el Masnou right now is Pablito. HE HE HE

perhaps the first surfer in Masnou A Swiss friend and I traveled to Masnou for Easter around 1972.We had all our sports equipment with us (surfboards and skis). As soon as we aarived there, we checked out the beach and found beautiful waves. We rode a few of them before eating dinner in the eaving. As we surfed and our wives watched, a tief stole the handbag of my friend's wife out of the car. It contained a banker's check in the amount of 10,000 $ (downpayment for a vaqcation house). The day after this, we returned to the beach, but the waves had becomde too small. So we decided to go skiing in the pyrenee mountains. There, we competed in a hot-dog ski competition. During a junmp I injured my meniscus. It was fun nevertheless. I thought you might be interested in this early surfing experience in Masnou.perhaps I will return there some day again. By the way, I am probably Europe's or at least Switzerland's first surfer, having surfed Huntington Beach, Calif. already in 1954. I consider myself also as the world's first snowboarder, having ridden the powder-slopes of Mount Attitash, New Hampshire, U.S.A. on a converted surfboard already in 1954. I also happen to be the world's first and manufacturer of snowboard safety release bindings on which several world speed records were ridden. This is not all yet.I can give you a lot more info on request. Meanwhile, I remain, yours truly,Urs (the surf)
