- Hello, Rodiles is at least world class, is a hollow and perfect left, with the low tide there is a current fort that drags you out at sea, weekends alli cannot be done surf, there are forty people in the water

prestige - Dub, Rodiles is in perfect conditions, this year 2004 the european comunity give to Rodiles the blue flag and that means the waters is clean, but the locals are in war with the world. peace.

Tanto local tanto local....

A less emotive view on Rodiles localism - I have stayed at Rodiles twice in the last couple of years and it is THE most beautiful place to hang out. The Eucalyptus trees are heaven and the break is excellent. However zillions of people pass through there hoping to get their piece of heaven. There are very few locals in Rodiles, most people visit from outside and I would say that foreigners outnumber locals by at least 4-1. In general I found that the locals were a friendly bunch although a little suspicious at first. But who could blame them - why bother making friends with most of the loud mouths on this message board? It's not like there isn't another 100 passer throughs behind the last, who they'll never meet again. A guy further down claims a board and some wetsuits were stolen from him and immediately blames the locals - I suspect it could just as easily have been som passers through - why would locals piss in their own back yard? I would say however that the local crew are some of the best surfers I've seen in Spain and they have Rodiles absoloutely wired and I expect that many visitors aren't able to get many waves unless they are of a similar standard, leading to much frustration and a tendency to blame the locals for their bad surf (personally I'm competent but these guys are in a different league).Anyway, what I'm trying to say is people are quick to judge and slow to look at things from other peoples points of view. This is usually the problem. Obviously there are always local wankers too, but I bet they are outnumbered by the visiting wankers, shitting on their beach, burning their Eucalyptus trees, upsetting the residents by being inconsiderate, staring at their girlfriends etc,etc...So if you are a reasonably considerate and able surfer you will enjoy Rodiles, if you are a crap surfer you probably wont get any/many waves but its a beautiful spot to hang out and watch good surfing (you could always surf the much, much, gentler wave at the other end).So there!

Show up alone - Dont go with many people and the locals will be cool,it is not a consistent spot so when it breaks a lot of people come. Surf it in the morning , most locals live in gijon , so they have a bit of a drive , and gijon is a party town. Indo style lefts on a mout of a river. Dont miss the parties in vilaviciosa in setember.
