- hey! the problem with this spot are the heavy rips in the middle of the beach. And take care with the rocks on the bottom because you can easily cut yourself. There are much better spots further down the coast, 15min away!

Malhao Beach - Great surf, although not for beginners! Hard to find and no signs. From Villa Nova follow signs for Cercal. At the Brunheiras roundabout turn left sign posted to Porto Novo. After about 2km you will see a left filter lane in the middle of the road on a corner. Take this left, follow the track down, past the campsite on your right and you will come to the top car park.

hard to find. - Didn't rate this place at all and hard to find as local have taken away all the signs. Ask in the nearby campsite for directions.

Swell Magnet - Made it here last summer. Parked the Transit in a sand dune, and had to dig it out. Took a while, but in the meantime the surf was the best on the coast. Everywhere else was too flat, but Malhao was the only place that was worth it. We camped for a while there, and the rotisserie at the Ali Super in Villa Nova serviced us for food! Check it when everywhere else is flat and busy.

Malhao rocks! - Malhao on a good day has fantastic rights and lefts and is a good place to head if it's small in Sao Torpes. You'll need a car and the road is quite shady but well worth the drive and in summer park out in the open as my mates car got broken into when he parked in the shade. Have fun.
