There a lot of ways to get there depending where you are. The most fun drive is from Cascais (guincho) in direction to cabo da roca along the montains and the coast, the view is fantastic! You just have folow the signal. Stop in the "miradouro" for a picture and go on.
The beach has a lot of spots. Depending on the bottoms in that day and the tide. Normally you have a left in the left side of the beach, in the center you a triangule that breaks to both sides, and then u have the famous pool right that is very powerful. the wave is fast in the drop and in the low tide opens good tubes. If the swell is good the high tide gives good waves for body boarding. Its a nice spot, with waves all over the year.
Overview
Atmosphere
Its a nice atmosphere, somteimes its very crowded, but if you are a good surfer you are not going to have any problems.

Helder Ferreira
Helder Ferreira, is one of the best surfers of Praia Grande and a hard local. He rips on big days with strong conditions. The photos are excellent. He should get a sponsor to help him to improve his technique and to be good competitor. Congratulations!

If everywhere else is flat get your ass here.
If you are an intermediate surfer and quite fit don't miss this break. It gets quite crowded but the Portugese don't get up before 9am, so if you get in early it'll be great. Don't surf the shore break, this is for short boarders but get out and surf out back. This is quite a rip taking you off the line up and its quite a paddle but well worth it. It's a beautifully powerful wave. The south end of the beach is less crowded for some reason. Miss this break if you are a beginner it will only depress you. If there everywhere else is flat get your ass here.
