Not a good spot
Waves are short, errant and impossible to surf. This "spot" has "waves" only on heavy stormy days and then, with lots of currents and backwash. Avoid this place; choose instead Sesimbra or Sto Amaro.

Local from Cova
Hello, I´m writting to tell that iam a local in Cova do Vapor. Cova´s is the best spot for Bodyboard. Only 3 or 4 surfers go there, because of those big holes. Local there are friendly if you are good people. To surf in Cova you must be good and strong to defeat those strong waves. Be carefull with the strong tides who pulls you thrue the rocks. Be friendly and you could surf there all the time. Dont bring all the family. Bring only one or to friends. See you there at 06.00am with strong offshore and 2 meters.

not the same
the wave is not as it used to be, the sand bottum is very diferent, and as a result there are a lot of close-out waves. realy diferent. you'll have to wait for some realy big swells to see if the bottum get's better.

I remember surfing this spot in october 2004. Really fun waves. Wud advise to surf it if u'r around the area. I see all the stuff about locals but i was lucky 2 surf it on an evening that none of them were there

my name is sergio machado and i just want to say that is not true what someone write about my self with my email. I surf cova do vapor at about 15 years but i am not agressive. I work I have a car and I don t need money!!

I surf there regularly...
And yeah, locals can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but most times if you show respect they´ll respect you. Well Cova is a right hander located near the right pier. It´s the best brake there (fuckin WILD!! Gnarly launch pads! Kinda like The Wedge but a right hander) but you have a very interesting left hander in the center of the beach. The locals are gnarlier in the right hander, for obvious reasons... Most of them are just good kids wanting to get some good waves, but when it comes to their home spot... Well... It´s REAAALLY their home spot!
My advice if u wanna surf there... Show respect and don´t drop-in on anyone! ANYONE! If u don´t want to surf there, well take a look anyway, cos you´re probably going to see some very good bodyboarding!
