Park the car in the city of tavira or in Quatro-Aguas and take the ferry boat from there to the spot(ilha de tavira) it´s really easy to get there. The wave is very inconsistent, can get good occasionally, but with the very consistent and relativelly uncrowded West coast so closeby it is a waste of time to go to this spot... most of the times...
Overview
Atmosphere
Very nice spot. Gave to us a lot of fun!
General
Very inconsistent, but when it breaks its a fun short wave. Its a beachbreak so it depends a lot on the quality of the sand banks... The take-off area is pretty small an VERY crowded. Respect the locals... Dont forget that you have to leave your car on the carpark which is a 20 minute ferry ride away...
small but beautiful
I can't believe this hardly ever works. Nice place tro visit though. You can walk over the bridge from the nearby fishing village. We went when the SW swell was massive and it was only a foot.

Inconsistent and very crowded!
I know the area quite well and I'm friends with some of the true hardcore locals. As someone already said, with sagres so close it is stupid to go to this place. Only breaks occasionaly when easterly wind blows for a couple of days. It breaks very close to shore and the surfing spot (next to the jetty) only streches for about 70 meters of beach, for this reason the crowd gets really packed. Slashed tires and scratches on cars are very common and I've also seen some physical violence happening on the beach. There are some hardcore locals here that surf good and control the place. Never ever drop in on guys like Cabanas, Botas or Xu. If you do this then you're fuc*#@... I'm glad I know them...
