Go to Bari and go to to the rocks, not to the sandy beach but at the all rock bit and try go on mid tide cause the rocks are full of urchins and mid tide shows a higher chance of survival.

swell direction - Nw/w/sw swell? At this direction is the italy mainland - no waves from there! Consistent? No waves during summer season!
