Fickle but can be A1
Went there yesterday. Had a tiny onshore wind which turned most waves to slop but can be great on its day. I would make this my first choice but may just work if your passing

Inch beach (Near Midleton)
Gets regular swell. Much less hassle than driving to clonakilty. Can get big. Easy paddle out even in big surf using rip on left of beach. Getting b busy lately but ok in winter, no twats out!

We're all wrong
Just checked this post, about 6 months after I posted the last one. The Inch pointed to on the map is in Kerry, but the directions given are for the inch in Cork. I was talking about inch in Kerry - great mellow beach break, fantastic looking set up on the reef, though I've never got it good. No idea what inch in Cork is like.

Not the right place
This is inch in the South east Cork area, near cloyne. Its a tiny strand.
The inch in Kerry (SW) opposite to Rossbay is 6 miles long and great for surf.

inch reef rocks
great wave. have surfed this 3 times in the past year. just happen to be lucky to get swell when i visit. nice big fat longboard waves with decent few hundred metre rides. well worth it. watch out getting out as you can get fucked against the rocks. first time i surfed here had a great day but got worked getting out. snapped my board and fucked up my shoulder. still came back for more. bring the longboards with you. you'll love it

Yep, wrong on all counts
Inch reef is an amazing wave, when its working. The beach is pretty mellow longboard type of wave, but can deliver 300 metre + waves in the right conditions

Wrong inch!
I think the Inch that's meant is the one Not on the map near midleton - theres only one inch round there. Youre thinking of the add "where an inch is a mile" in kerry!

Inch point?
Is this a report for the strand or the reef/point that parallels the coast road? I surfed both while visiting my uncle here back in '95. The reef wasn't working (swell not big enough), but I heard from the one local surfer we met that it gets incredible on a big swell- long, perfect lines. The whole area is beautiful, with tons of surf potential. I'm scheming to go back.
