patience and timing are all If you are in this area when its firing - dreamtime. However, this may happen for 10 days a year MAX, the rest of the time its painfully average with month long waits for the westerlies to drop off. In winter unless you're a polar bear or a seal the cold is merciless, after 2hrs in the water the body starts shutting down. Also, the locals are getting alot less friendly, I had my windscreen smashed for little more than laughing at a local wipeout. Tread carefully.

Good Spot Loved the Irish surfing experience. Everything from beachies to reefs and all in walking distance from the pub. Thanks to the boys at Bundoran Surf co for the hospitality and great hostel.

Question? How can an Irishman stand on a surfboard after 40 pounds of stout?

bundoran reefs found a few awesome reefs near the peak with no other surfers. unfortunately full of a group of local bodyboarders with attitude.i got up at first light a few mornings to beat 'em, but nope, theyre always on it. could be a good place 'cept for the local sponge fraternity

Macaronis Fickle but sweeeeet when its on, 4 foot, offshore = perfection. Left like a coldwater macaronis, hollow barrel section and workable shoulder section.Irish, you lucky lucky people, soooo many good waves nearby

I love Bundoran! I love the surf and the surfers but I love the atmosphere most. Go to Bundoran and I guarantee you will have a blast with the coolest, most laid back and varied mix of people. The pub life with it's live band culture is great too.

not a classic but for all surfers if judging by the late May 'post-storm' swell I'd say bundoran is super over-rated. depends on what u want: gr8 surf culture & nuf waves 4 all n lo ego. but the 'buzz' of post-storm swell turned out to be churn and white water with everything in sight literally breaking on the beach.

swell direction for the peak heard good things about the peak. anyone got any idea if a small (6-8ft) south west swell will get in to bundoran? just with that sligo county in the way an all. cheers
