The first photo is Sandvík not Vík. Vík is a classic beachbreak and it works almost all of the time, on a small day there are usually a few good sets breaking behind the gas station. On a big S or SW swell there is potential for some world class pointbreak on the west end of the beach. Oh and do check out the cafe/pub.

water temp?
what's the average water temp? I'm used to 50 degree WA State water How low does it go in Iceland?

That's diehard surfing. No crowds, clean waves, and from the looks of it--lots of volcanic black sand beaches. Looks blacker than Kalapana.
