Additional Surfing Infos
Worth going if NE winds over F5 are forecasted in the area, especially when it's blowing for a couple of days or more. Actually, the wind rarely reaches the beach, but the windswell does.
In July & August there are lifeguards who won't let you surf in the buoy (swimmers) area, if at all (the beach is closed when the waves are bigger than 1,5m). Be friendly and you can persuade them to surf outside the swimmers area (south end of the beach). That's where the waves are rideable after all, the rest is mostly a nasty shorebreak.
Finding a place to park can be tricky during weekends in June & July and even weekdays in August.
In the winter conditions can be rougher!
  Overview
Atmosphere Surely not epic, but can get good for Agean standards. A half-decent semi-point break with a short but fairly powerful ride. Launch area can be rocky at times so worth bringing an epoxy/pop out/older board.

old school
I've been surfing this spot since 1985, and have never seen anyone else there - even on a bodyboard, apart from friends I brought over. You need good eastern swell to make it work. The best sessions have lasted up to 3 days, with evening offshore wind making it sometimes very good. I've however only been there in the summer (my holiday house is there - I live in Paris and London) so I don't know about winter conditions. There is also a left break on the southern beach of Papa Nero, in front of the camping. It doesn't work that well anymore though. On big Meltemi (northern wind) days, Papa Nero can be surfable, more like a shorebreak.

re. Ai-Giannis break...
Indeed Patrasurfer, the north half of the beach does not offer rideable waves. When the swell is >1.5m however, the break between the lifeguards' tower and the old hotel "Aigaion" is pretty good. 2-3m waves are not rare though, esp. during July, June and through the winter.
