ORANJE GO HOME
I am a local and I can't stand those people (dutch) who live in autarky in their camp : they do not mix with the locals, exept in the water unfortunately... they are simply parasites...
Harry and Tom go home with your children !!!!

Hey just been to Mimizan, not bad swell for the summer months, unfortunately le jardin bar wasn't open but i spoke to some locals who said the old owners will be opening up a new bar soon, but still had a great holiday.

mimizan
I was there at the end of july and begin august.
the surf was great, but it was the best in the morning.
Everyday around 1 pm the wind was blowing from the north.
And with low tide there were lots of close outs.
But there were hot french girls:)

Mimizan
I'm from Mimizan. I must admit there is a factory, and it smells when the wind comes from east, ie a good day if you have some waves.

It is used to make paper out of pine wood, you should have noticed that there are quite a lot of pines around here...

In august, the factory does not work.

But the smell is just a small part of the problem. The biggest part comes from the rejection of the factory's used waters directly in the ocean, some two kilometers at the south of Mimizan...Knowing that the stream usually goes from north to south, you can imagine that the two or three km at the south of the rejected waters' site aren't that good for surfing...But there is a public beach!

Thanks to all the people who enjoyed staying in Mimizan! It is not the best place in Landes, but there are still other things that typical touristic stuff in there. The factory gives job to at least 500 people, and we have other things that aren't connected to tourism. It gives a little life during winters...

Best season for waves is from september to november, and from march to june. September and october could be really great. But it is different from the south, like in Hossegor. In the north (Mimizan, Biscarosse), the spots will "saturate" with above 2,5 meters...As soon as you have such a swell, you have to go down in the south, from Hossegor to Basque country.

Don't hesitate to come back in Mimizan! You're welcome, despite a few localists a$$holes! Beware that september could be crowded, especially in week end!

Check out Le Jardin Bar
Had a wicked time here last september and planning to go again this year. Great weather, good surf and mega cheap. We hired an apartment just behind the beach and worked out at £40 pp for the week! You get used to the factory smell and is a good indication of where the wind is coming from. Check out Le Jardin Bar on the north side for a great surfing hangout in the evening. Run by a couple, Hannah (English) and Justin (South African) and definitely worth the trek from the middle of town.

very easy to find (at the pedestrian street)...
Don't forget to visit the surfshop at the south side of mimizan beach (nice guys over there, and real surfers...)

Surf in september
I'll be surfing in Mimizan from 17 till 24 september (at least, I hope so). Anyone knows if the waves are any good then?
Bar "Le Surf" sounds interesting. What's the adress?
