labenne washing machine
surfed here late aug 06, big scarey swell, keep your eyes open for those sneaker sets, rips manageable, shore break not! seriously guys, save some strength for actually getting back onto terrarfirma, we saw three guys airlifted by helicopter, great for spectators on the beach, unnerving for us still in the water. dont be put off though, this wave is great fun, no probs with locals, mind your manners and at least try to speak some french. No good if youve got a family in tow, undertow is wicked(in a bad way). Head south to Basque for family beaches

Jury de Swart, do yourself a favor and stay where you are. Don't come here no more. You can't keep your mouth shut, you idiot.

???
I've just read what people have written here and just can't believe it....

I've surfed Labenne thousands of times in the last twenty years and never felt any bad vibes...
The so called "locals" are not that numerous, and anyway don't usually go out when the waves are overhead...

2 years ago, I surfed there every morning during a complete week, in 7/8 feet waves....ALONE!!!!

This spot is just like any other spot: if you respect the rules, have a smile at the other surfers and relax, you'll enjoy it...

Labenne
Just spent 2 weeks surfing the break, drop in rules should be stricly adhered to, as locals can get very touch and when a lot of people out there they tend to get very agressive.
Beautifull hollow waves, i found the surf in the morning was best, as the day went of the winds tended to pick up and the waves get sloppy.
Great place, great waves

Labenne Surf June 04
LaBenne beach has been tortured by the winter swells and the beach has become quick narrow and only two sandbars are there to provide the waves, which makes this spot easely crowded even in the low-season.
Located close to the mountains the weather changes very quickly, with wind providing hollow waves or destroying the swell.
First time having surfed with off-shore winds all day long, and not only in the morning as most france beach spots.
At the rounabout, check the beach a litle more north for an old church in the dunes, there is a good alternative break.

HOT LOCAL WAVES
If you want to keep your car in a good shape please go somewhere else.
We now, the locals, decided to break any car with spanish car plate and other german, swiss, holland... plate.
Just to let you know that now you are not still welcome!!
Too many people come here and don't respect anything!!
it is sad to say but we have shown some patience but now enough is enough, so if you got your tires blown or something broken with you car we warned you!!
don't expect us to show kindness!!!!
