 Additional Information

Very good sandbars here. The waves have plenty of power, works best on the low tide which hollows out. Be prepared for the extremely strong current that drags you from right to left, and on he bigger days the paddle out can be long. Mornings are normally always on with an offshore wind which is perfect, which gives sweet right handers from the main peak.

Atmosphere

Locals are friendly except in summer. Nice locals, show respect and take the waves that come and don't drop in.

General

It's a very quiet place. Beach is crowded in day, campsite is a bit noisy at night.

Low tide - I went to surf at low tide. I expected bad waves but they were really good ! I started on a left, very good, long and hollow (i got a barrel) but it was in the current. After one hour, I crossed the channel to surf the right : no current and v

Gironde Power - The swell was annouced BIG (2.5m, 13s). Tibok thought it was possible to surf on a specific bank. I was not agree but I was wrong... When we arrived, it seemed impossible to surf : too big, too much current, to much close outs. But a right see

Report - Hey! I surfed there for 2 weeks during august. Such a great place ! There was a good session on the morning of 8/26 with off-shore wind.French locals are very nice and I like the atmosphere of this kind of beach. In the morning I surfed with French people. In the afternoon the place got full of strangers but most of them were beginners and as a result the "line-up" wasn't too crowded...Be careful with strong currents and amazing shorebreaks !

What a surprise !! - What a surprise to see the sand banks I'm surfing at since I am twelve !!!I ride there generally during the summer holidays but the best seasons are definitely spring and autumn. Less people, better waves. Unfortunately when the wave are bigger than 2 meters (6-7 ft), there is a loss of quality. But shorebreak sessions or offshore wind can offer you really significant satifactions. Especially if you are ready to wake up early or to walk a little along the beach and find a peak less crowded than the one in front of the camping. Just try the second beach access after the camping to a beach called "the pantoufle". Quiet place, beautiful place, chance to get nice waves. Just take into account the potentially strong currents. Enjoy the surf and then eat some oysters of the bay of Arcachon with a glass of white wine.

Fun - Hi there, I'm not an experienced surfer, at all, but I took my first waves on this spot, so I'm a big fan... From september on, it's not too crwoded, but it can get pretty full on weekends and even more during the summer... And if you don't like to see naked people, just stay away... I don't think I have ever seen more naked people than overthere :-) !!! Cheers
