When you get off the boat at Soulac, after crossing the gironde river,or from Bordeaux, head for Hourtin, Le Pin Sec is sign-posted on the way, its only about 15 mins north of Hourtin. |

We stopped off at Le Pin Sec on the way down to Lacanau, for the first session of the trip. Looked about 2-3ft from the dune, was actually more like 5ft, and then some when the tide dropped! Considering this was mid-august, I thought the place was pretty sick. Not one person in sight until about mid-day, all learners, so many peaks....mmmmmmmmmmmm. |

General |
Uncrowded for sure, I surfed it with a friend, never once talked to anyone else, nobody about! let alone get hassled for a wave. Loads of food places on the dune, and 2 cafe's. Look north, nobody, look south, nobody, sweet. |

I wantedsolid waves and I got them! The swell was long : 11s so I decided to go to the north. At le Pin sec, it was nearly unsurfable. The paddle was hard. But after, I surfed 10 really good waves, rights and lefts. It was a solid 2m. As the

Solid
Back to Le pin sec. Solid swell. Hesitation between here and northern spots such as Le Gurp, L'Amélie. But finally, this was the best choice. A surfer coming back from thenorth said it was too small for Le Gurp and not good at Soulac.

yes !
The tide was too high when we arrived. But when we started to surf it was perfect. A righ-left wave, a lot of current, long walls and jpower. It was a good session even it was hard to caugh the waves.
