From Bordeaux take the road that indicates "Cap-Ferret". It is an hour of driving, then you hit Cap-Ferret and you go on the ocean side to have fun! Lot's of camping and stuff over there. Sorry, it's a nudist beach almost all the way...Or from Arcachon, take the little boat called the "Pinasse" to go across the bay and acces Ferret (it's about 40 or 50 Francs a ride).
Park you car just right before the dunes, just be careful to not block the way to the beach!

Atmosphere
Atmosphere is pretty cool, there is a surf club that you might want to go to. The people are very friendly, especially the german girls. Big parties at night on the beach, but you'll have to be in shape!

I know this spot since I was 4. I was brought up there and it is where I learned to swim.
looks rippy as hell!!
how ca this be for all surfers! it looks like an experienced only break to me- those rips look lethal

Cap Ferret, the true story
Early one morning Capt. Ferret was on his way to the harbor were Nude the tug was moored. Capt Ferret was a Tug Captain and a very good one at that. Nude the tug and Ferret often found it hard in the morning and did not get going until the sun was well in the sky. Being a european Tug Nude was not modest but did like a bit of privacy in the morning. On this morning you would never believe what happened. Before Capt Ferret could finish his latte a long haired surfer from Australia jumped on Nude, Ferret and into the water. Foaming Latte all over the place. Those Australain boys said a small French girl in a pocker dot frock. An old English gent on vacation almost pooped his pants.
