Eastern Group - Sao Miguel, Santa Maria, Formigas Islets
Sao Miguel Island, also known as the "Green Island" is the largest (759 km2; 293 sq mi) and most populous of the Azores Islands. The island has around 140,000 inhabitants, most of whom live in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, the most populous place in the islands. The Sete Cidades twin lakes are lakes formed in a crater that has a perimeter of 12 km (7.5 miles).
Dominant Swell and Wind Direction : Dominant swell= NorthWest-North all the year.Dominant wind= South-NorthWest from December to April. SouthWest-North from March to October

i am thinking of studying one semester in the Ponta Delgada University of Azores. i am interested in coming there for surfing, so in Sao Miguel is it good for surfing from February to June?Please answer soon!

surfing Formigas?
You mention Formigas Islet as a surfing spot. Are there any regular visits to Formigas, or is charter the way to get there?

rent a board
Hi, i wanna surf at the azores in the middle of may. My prob is, i don't have a board. Is there a possibility to get one. On this pages no shop is located?? Thanks for help. Flo
