Quatro Ribeiras isn't that dangerous, there's a fun left, but don't expect to get the waves of your life in terceira, however, if you get Santa Catarina pumping you'll get your melon shacked for sure! I surfed both these breaks with no one out last spring. It's a cool, mellow, country-like place. Friendly locals too. Show respect, they're big and can get nasty. One downside, lots of american wankers on this island, there's an american airforce base or whatever those seppos call it...Cheers! By the way, don't write scare posts, the truth will keep the intruders away...kooks don't go to places like this, chill mate!

I dont knoe who posted these spots on the azores, certain places dont exist...whoever did probably read about it somewhere or just looked at the waves and didnt surf it. TO say the hazzards at quatro ribeirad are rocks is an understatement. This spopt faces the north of the island and is subject to strongest swells. it can be 4 foot one mnute and change to 8 foot the next,if you get caught in the inside in the drop zone youre going to stay there for a while, youll either break your board or your bones against the rocks, veteren surfers have had to be rescued, you can try and paddle out from the break but the set creates a rip current that drags you back in and therese no way out from the rocks. Also nearby is a shark breading ground i shit you not, ive never seen one but some windsurfers have spotted a few not far from the spot, also ,you can go in if the waves look small but if swell increases and it gets big, youll have a hard time getting out from the boulder rocks when yu have 8 feet waves breaking on them! THIS IS NOT A SCARE POST ITS FOR REAL, last year a snorkler went missing in this spot and was never found. Also its pretty dam isolated , if you get into trouble make sure you have friends in the water, whover posted this spot was probably a tourist , i live here and i never met anyone called dave in the water, trust me , if you surfed here i would know who you were. Again , tourists posting about spots they never surfed is iresponsible and should not be alowed in this site, the sea here will eat you up before you can say gringo
