MV - It is not necesary to rent a car but if you do you'll have the opportunity to access very easy most of the spots. If you decide to stay neer a break think in Rincon or Jobos beach in Isabela.

San Juan Surf Spots - Hola- I usually surf all over the NW coast, but I also go to San Juan many times. I only surf La Ocho when I am there. Are there any other good, consistent spots around (20 minutes max) Isla Verde/San Juan? Gracias, la ocho es una buena ola pero necesito algunas olas mas peligrosas. Adios

car rental yea - If you are staying directly in Rincon, it is possible to score good waves without a car. The problem is, Rincon needs a N/NW swell to break. Most of the time that Rincon is totally flat (unsurfable) the north coast has good waves, even overhead, because it catches the NE swell. So if you are only staying for a short time, I'd say get a car to maximize your chances of getting waves. If you're there for a while and can wait around, no car necessary.

Car rental - Hi, I am thinking about visiting Rincon are this winter. I was wondering if it is necessary to have a car to access many spots, and if getting around is tough. I am travelling on a budget and would like to go somewhere where a car isn't necessary for a few weeks. I heard of a couple cheap places to stay, does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks alot.-MV
