advice - im thinking about taking a trp to pr and am wondering if spring would be a good time to go to miss the crowds and there world still be pretty consitent surf?

Giong to Arecibo - In Arecibo you going to get some good waves if you go to Islote comunity.Hollows and cueva de vaca are the best spot to surf in Arecibo during summer. You can also try la Marginal of Arecibo if you hit a low pressure system. The Hang out is not that good in Arecibo, so is better if you go to the metro area (40min) drive or to the west (40Min) drive too. I think the west coast night life is better because there is a lot of pubs that are beach front ones, and the people is in a better mood.

LATE RESPONSE - WELCOME EVERYBODY TO PUERTO RICO!LAIRD HAMILTON??? YOU MUST BE KIDDING; ANYWAY IT ONLY GONNA TAKES YOU ABOUT 2.5 HOURS TO GET FROM SAN JUAN TO AGUADILLA. HOTELS CHEAP IN RINCON NO RESERVATION THERE ARE MANY JUST GET THERE AND LOKK FOR THE ONE YOU NEED. NEAREST SPOT FROM WESTIN RIO MAR IS LA PARED (THE WALL) JUS 15 MINUTES AWAY. WONDERING ABOUT A GOOD SWELL IN MAY, YOU ALL READY KNOW YOUR ANSWER, KEEP CHECKING THE SATELLITES TILL THE DATE YOU GET HERE, STAY POSITIVE, AND WHEN YOU GET HERE CHECK JOBOS BEACH, SURFER BEACH, AND WILDERNES IN AGUADILLA AND ISABELA TOWNS. SEE MSGS 41 - 50 AND 101 - 110. PEACE

going to PR in May - In may the season is almost over, but we always recive some weak swells. The good thing is that we recive more southeast winds that are perfect for Arecibo, Isabela, Aguada, and some parts of Rincon. Northeast winds are perfect for Aguadilla, and Maria's beach in Rincon. My advise is that look the forecast to see if there is a swell coming. The south east part of the island recive waves in summer ( may is almost summer) from the low pressure systems ( huricanes) that are coming from Africa. If theres no swells try to go north(aguadilla Ramey base area,Isabela or Arecibo. In Arecibo There is a great chance to hit world class waves but there is a lot of locals. jobos Isabela is full of locals too, but if you stay calm and look and wait for your waves everything is cool. If you hit a swell look for the wind direction to find the perfect spot to surf.

going to Aguadilla in May - You are right, May is the end of the season, but we have waves in the west sometimes until june. If there is a swell it is not very strong because the water is warmer. If you go and there is no swell try to go north. In Aguadilla try the Ramey base area, Jobos Isabela or Arecibo. Jobos Has a lot of locals so if you go there try not to drop and stay cool waitng for your wave. Is the same in Arecibo but Arecibo has a lot of world class spots that are breaking in May. If you decide to go there try holows,or la marginal (Margara), but be aware of thiefs. If you hit a swell go to Rincon, Aguada or Agadilla town area. These are cool towns to surf.

will I score any surf May 7th-15th? - I am returning to Aguadilla in May and wondering about swell consistency. I know May is not peak season, but there should be ridable surf everyday right? Any info/pics from years past in the month of May would be appreciated. Thanks.

going to the east part of PR - the east part of PR has waves mostly in the summer season because of the tropical sotrms that comes from Africa. But maybe if there is a swell coming from USA that is strong enough you can get some waves (not as good as in the west but they are fun).Try to get info about culebra island is one of the most beatiful beaches in the world. Some surf spots in the east are inches, le escuelita(southeast) la pared Luquillo.
