The break itself is mostly a closeout beachbreak that is sheltered from most swell. There are good spots in the area that you can travel to.

San Juan Del Sur is a bay with a cool little town with hotels, stores, bars, etc you basically have everything you need there. It's a good place to base yourself and surf other spots nearby. Good starting point if you've never been to Nicaragua.

You don't go to Nicaragua to surf San Juan Del Sur....once you get there you'll find the good spots.
