By boat only. Miramar surf camp has the best real estate, fair prices and they have their own boat.Also when I went nobody called this spot freight trains. It is called Puerto Sandino Go to Puerto Sandino or Punta Miramar and hire a boat. Be careful, some of the boat operators are a little sketchy. Good at low tide. Big lefts. When I surfed it was laid back like waikiki or san o'fre but 2 x overhead. Saw pics of it hollow.
Atmosphere
Not a secret. 4 surf camps in the area. Boats come and drop 4 - 10 surfers at a time.

nice breaks empty breaks long puerto sandino - Check Miramar surfcamp, it has access to the 1/2 mile stretch of beach, so breaks are less hairy. All the breaks appeared to work best before sunrise and/or high tide. The owner, Pablo, is wonderful, knows the breaks well and has a variety of accommodations that are nice and clean. I was there in August/Sept 2010, the only other surfers were from Surf Tours Nicaragua. This place at "La Flor" is dirty and way over priced. In addition, the owner is too new to the place to be familiar with how the breaks work.
