Right in front of the Viva Vallarta resort, at the 12 KM mark on the road from Puerto Vallarta to Punta Mita. Surfboards (in dismal shape) made available by the resort to registered guests.
Club Viva Vallarta was sold and changed names. Everyone I know calls this spot Burros.
Overview
Atmosphere
Locals are nice. Wave is consistent and fun. Good beginner/intermediate spot. Never crowded because the hotel does not cater to surfers, but to families with small children. The access is a little bit of a pain unless you're a guest. I spent a week there in April and we had waves all day every day.
General
If Sayulita is too small and you don't have a boat to go to Punta Mita, check out Burros.
Crowded
The hotel DOES cater to surfers... about a dozen paddled out from the hotel today while I was there, all with huge boards, and few with any skill. 24 people in the water... mostly total beginners.. dangerous.
