Killer Time - Gracious Folks Just returned from a week in Punta Mita surfing the swell from Hurricane Eric - what a blast! And want to give a big plug to David & Lisa at Villa Las Olas for being amazingly gracious hosts - from stunningly great meals to killer daily surf guide to just a great hang - I highly recommend this place and these wonderful folks!

Punta Mita Stayed in Punta Mita through Christmas, beautiful place. The waves were good more days than not, and there's lots of good spots in the vicinity. Bought a used, very good board, pretty cheap. We stayed at the Villas Las Olas with Dave and Lisa. Perfect. Spacious, fully equpped apartments. Lisa serves gourmet breakfast at the crack of dawn, before going surfing. Dave will take you to all the surf spots. Lars

Punta Mita Lodging Staying at El Anclote Condos right across from the Anclote surf break, (2 min. to the water.)Renting from Puntamitasurfcondos.com. Great people, extremely knowledgable about area and has great connections. Condo is wonderful, fully equipped and comfortable. Surf guide Ricardo Andrade is the best. They included boards with the rental. Can't wait to go back!!

Punta Mita Surf Trip Just returned from 10 days in Punta Mita. Had great surf most of the time. Surfed La Lancha to 2 ft overhead and loved it. The break right in front of the condo was about 5 ft one day and was the most memorable session of the trip. Long, long, long wals that you can do anything on. Perfect shape and no people in the line-up. Also went to Sayulita one day and there were about 10,000 kooks in the water. Stay in Punta Mita for quality surf. I didn't surf El Faro, but heard it was epic. I stayed with www.PuntaMitaCondoRentals.com in their 2-bedroom. I would highly recommend this company and their condos. It had everything and was just a 1-minute walk to the surf spot.

Punta Mita Just back from Punta Mita. Great surf spot for all levels with a wide variety of breaks. Stayed at Villas Las Olas with David Walsh. 5 star hospitality for very reasonable rates. Super cool guy who takes great care of his guests. Highly recommend it for traveling surfers.

Mita I have been traveling to this area for 15 years and I currently own property in La Cruz. I do not know dave, and besides what is on this site I have never heard anything from travelers or locals about him. I do know that the locals (mexican, not expat) in this area are some of the friendliest, respectable and most loyal people you could ever meet. I know that if you are a decent honest person who shows respect than you will be treated the same. If the comments on this site are true than dave has obviously wronged the locals in some way and they have decided that he and his guests are no longer welcome. There are plenty of excellent cheap accomodations in the area go to one of them, not dave's.

Been There Done That I used to go to Dave and Irenes (Irene is great) to surf, dine and party. After having my car window smashed and tires slashed while there and finding our the locals TRULY hate this man I don't go anymore. Not worth replacing windows and windows. Dave acted like "so what not my problem", but Irene was great and slipped me a few bucks to help out. He has crappy drugs anyway.

high times at Daves Dive Sounds to me like Casa Las Palmas is the new narco-tourism destination. Do a face plant and not feel a thing. Are the drugs included in the price of the surf package. where do I sign up

Think I'll pass I just happen to be online looking to make reservations for my well deserved vaction next winter. I was thinking of reserving at Casa Las Palmas but after reading of the drug and theft problems there I think I'll look elsewhere. Thanks everyone for the heads up on the problems. Love Mexico and will be ripping the waves ASAP
