good times
i was in Escondido last october 2008. the place was real nice, food, people all great.

The wave though, as mensioned before, are masive this time of year. i can surf, but had a hard time with those monsters. recommend the place, but high level of surfing is required, or as i will next time, visit when it's smaller..

Puerto is a closeout
Surfed Puerto this Feb, dunno if the banks have changed or something but I found that like 9 out of 10 waves just close out. Super poweful but so short and not fun breaking boards on big closeouts. Don't rekon I'd go back was in Fiji prior to Puerto would rather go there, surf is way way way better and way less crowded.

the best way to get from Mexico city to Puerto is buy flight of Click Mexicana which's cost 100$-150$.take to consideration they take additional 60@ per board pack.a cheaper way is to gfly with Magnicharter(cheaper than Click and don't take additinal pay for the board) to huatulco and taking 2 hours bus from there.you can also take 12 hours bus (first class) from Mexico City.
there are planty of places. to sleep in Zicatela beach just infront of the famous Mexpipe and the cost is vary, starts from 20$ for a couple per night up to 100$
also there are more relaxed accomandations in la punta.
and finally, the wave is intense (in Zicatela) if you are not a good surfer, don't mess with it when it's over 6 feet

checking out puerto
Hello fellow surfers!
Im coming to Puerto for the next new years with the hopes of surfing. I have only heard so far that its for experienced surfers but being only a mediocre surfer myself, im hoping to put my board to use someplace. Any locations nearby that arent too hardcore?
I would appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Beautiful Puerto Escondido
I went to Puerto last May for the first time in 15 years. My old friends were all there, some gringos and some local Mexxies. The beachbreak is quite built up and has lost some of it's charm but the waves are still thunderous. When we arrived it was about 4 to 6 in 3 days it picked up to and honest 35 foot faces with jetski takeoffs and relly long rides. Not having a PWC and not wanting to drown at 53 years young, I surfed when it was huge at the little bay of "Carrisalio" in the north side of town, with the owner of the "Central Surf Shop" Angel, as well as Miguel the ding repair guru. Man I love that beach. Sure the wave isn't super hollow, but the whole surroundings with the protected bay, coral sand and non- development is awesome. Even when there aren't waves there it's a great place to spend the day in Puerto Escondido. I can't wait to go back.
