Punta Morena Access |
| |
Located on the relatively uninhabited, beautiful east coast of the island of Cozumel about 15 minutes from the main city. Rent a car or moped in the city and take the cross-island highway, once you get to the coast, follow the road south about a mile and your there.
East side of Cozumel Island. Follow the Costera Sur highway east until Parque Punta Sur, turn north and continue for six miles passing Chen Rio and Playa de San Martin.
Can't miss the signs for Punta Morena and the Naked Iguana Bar. |

Fun wave when it's up and friendly locals if you know a little spanish. This spot works mainly on wind swell, so there is always a chance of it being really sloppy.

It is a little spot on the side of the island with no power or running water.

Peter is the local from whom you can rent boards for about $15 for all day. Take his advice with a grain of salt, he is more interested in your dollars than your surf session and will gladly mislead you as to the actual conditions. |

General |
It was pumping with swell from a hurricane offshore.

The Naked Iguana is located right in front of the break and offers a great atmosphere in which to relax, eat good food and drink cheap mexican beer in between sessions. Also, make sure you check out the "pet" they keep in the bar. |
