From hotel Camino Real in the hotel zone of Cancun, there’s a little outer reef full of seagulls, you need to swim out for like 50m, to the other side of the seagull infested island where you’ll observe the waves.
Be careful, it’s very shallow and gnarly, with luck you won’t ding your board. It’s a good break if there are no waves in Cancun. Don’t step on the coral. Don’t pass the reef because there are sharks below.
Gnarly man, ouch, gnarly!
When nothing else is breaking or too shit this place is worhtwhile the paddle, even if it's to have a look at the guls, urchins and reefsharks. If you have reef boots take them! If you have a reefmask, take it! Hahahaha...

Is this Punta Cancun
If this is Punta Cancun, I have surfed this wave and its a mini shark island deal only surfable a high tide. Low tide is exposed reef or finger tips touch reef when you paddle. Then it drops off very very deep. The biggest I surfed it was 4 ft. cause you need reef booties and mine got stolen at nearby Choc Mol. If you can surf, its got two sections of reef almost the size of the roof of a VW Van. The first section can be a mellower take off to barrel then the last section turns square and round as it bends on the reef into a small channel. On very high tide you can take off deep on the first section and hit the lip on the last section or pull in to a bending barrel. Here's the catch. If you straiten out you will clear the nearly exposed reef w/your fins(just barely). But if you fall hitting the lip or get rolled pulling into that last section, You will hit reef!!!...But its knd of spongie on top, just don't penetrait too deep into the reef because after the sponge part its like a razor. Very fun sport, but if you can't make a late free fall take off on nearly dry reef, don't try it. You'll get rag dolled onto the last sections urchins table.
