La Saladita
Corky Carroll runs an excellent "surf lodge" from which he surfs daily with his residents. Corky's an amazing surfer and coach.

Acapulco
I'm going next week because it was the only place where we could get tickets on Standby. What are some good breaks this time of year? I don't have time to drive up to Zihuatenejo unfortunately.

Buying boards near Ixtapa
Hey,
I am travelling to Ixtapa near the end of September. It looks like carting my board around is going to be pretty expensive by the time i get home.
Are there many surf shops around Ixtapa to buy a board?
I presume there is but wouldnt want to be left without a board, that would suck.

cheers,
Damon

Cheap places to stay Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo
My buddies and I wanna take an epic budget surf trip to zihuatanejo but no matter how many hours i spend researching on the internet I can not for the life of me find any hint of cheap places near a break in zihua or ixtapa. I'm talking like what you should be payin' for a hostel in mexico, roughly <15 bucks a night or campgrounds. Any help from past travelers or someone in the know would be greatly appreciated, we're desperate. Thanks :) Also, do we need an suv to explore the coastal area.

Playa Linda walkable?
Also going to Club Med Ixtapa and wondering if Playa Linda is walking distance. Should we bring our own boards? Not planning to rent a car...

My advice!
Just finished a 6 month surfari in Mexico from Puerto Escondido all the way up north to Vallarta. Used a Jeep wich was not 4x4. Kind of hard during rainy season but for the most part it was easy getting to most surf spots. If you plan on going during rainy season your best bet is a 4x4 but otherwise you should be ok. I camped out and rented bungalows....my car never got broken into once during the whole trip. Just think common sense, and you'll be safe. In general camping is safe on Mexico's beaches. Best way to find out is to ask the people who live there for info on robberies in the specific areas etc. Mexico is an awesome destination with amazing surf potential. Enjoy!
