why
you should not be surfing here, the current is very strong and two lives have been taken by the current.

noahs ark
no such thing as sharks here ladies, i have been diving here for 2 years and seen only a local white tip 3 times, there is a sea lion colony but the difference in water temperature keeps the biters away, the only big things moving are the sea lions... and the damn cruise ships, which sometimes put a wake on top the incoming waves, bit more fun

It wasnt a shark...and if it was...
it wasnt gunna bite you. :). Bull Sharks are rather common, but this is a very FERTILE part of the ocean, plenty of food, and those fish arent looking for something to eat, especially something that looks rather strange like human. Anyways...I do get uncomfortable out their sometimes too. I've been out there alone with no one on the beach with 8 ft shorey...kinda scary I guess. Real Heavy wave. Catch the backwash off the rock into the wave for extra speed, and boost. Be careful...if you arent confident dont paddle out.

Sharks cont...
Went here a few years back staying at the Solmar. surfed here a number of times but one late arvo thers was just me and my brother surfing and it didn't feel quite right. i caught a wave in, turn to padlle back out and my brothers literally caught up with me by paddling in behind me, all freaked out by what he described as "a f**king big fish". For the next ten minutes me brother and i and the lone fisherman on the beach watched this large dark/brown shape cruise the bay from right to left about 30 yrds offshore. Can't verify it was a shark, maybe a sea lion but i never went back in at lovers after that. pussy or not. i actually prefer having all my limbs in tact.

TIPS IF ITS FIRING HERE
wanted to "paddle through the arch" so we paddled out beach infront of cabo del sol resort, and around point to lovers. THe beachbreak was MACKINGGGG, 10 ft powerfull closeouts NO JOKE you can die here. Making out is easy cuz of the rip, getting in without being slammed is a f*king Bit*h!!! Some dude was all bloody and skull cracked open from just walking a few feet out to try and see the arch and got slammed by a lurker set.

Paddling back into the cabo del sol hotel beach was SKETCH. Some creepy guy in speedos just watch as my hommie got piledrived into the sand, lost his board and swam his a$$ off to make it in. Weird scene there. I waited 20+mintues and timed the sets so i didnt even get my hair wet on the paddle in.

Sick place if you dont mind getting your skull cracked.

SHARKS!!
I went there a couple years ago and there were sharks darting through the faces so we said screw it and left. It did look like a killer bodyboarding spot.

alone
i got to lovers before there was a soul on the beach. once on the pacific side i nearley fainted.huge wedges with 8 foot shoulders and offshore wind.for 5 hours straight i scored with my only company being a skimmer down the beach and tanning beach babes clapping after every barrel. one of my favorite sessions with a few in-n-outs.

Tip of Baja
Stayed at Solmar a few years back, saw people break bones getting pitched right onto the sand. Breaks on about 2 feet of water and gets heavy, and sometimes crashes right on the sand. Once you swim 15 yards out the ocean depth goes to about 85 ft. sorta creepy. More of a bodysurf or spongeworthy spot.
