No more Benny and surf report from 8/5 and 8/6 - Just got back from K38 and I am sad to say Uncle Benny has sold his campground. We ended up staying at Robert's down the road and camping right on the beach by the river bed. In some ways it was cooler being right on the beach, but come on...Benny was classic. Too bad to see him go. By the way, K38 was pretty good. Not epic, but decent. About 4-6 feet and glassy. Water was warmer than usual too. We'll miss ya, Benny.

Fun at k38 - Had a great time with consistent head high swell. I forgot my booties and tore the shit out of my feet. Afterwards had enough tortas and beer to forget my torn up feet. Bring booties!

Any new condos up there? - I was just wondering if developers are getting rid of El Morro Park to build more high rise buildings and destroy yet another perfect right! It is happening all over Baja, shame, shame, shame...Harry, you still there?

- Hey MatP, you still in the area or did those granola eaters from Washington find you? Hope all is well.

Good old days - Back in the early 60's some surfers from Chula Vista found what was then called K38 1/2. A Mexican family lived in a "house" made of tin and cardboard at the entrance and charged 25 cents to open the gate. They had the place all to themselves for quite some time. Eventually other surfers traveling on the Coast Highway saw the cars with racks on the cliff and the secret was out. Those were great times at K-38 1/2.

New Crop - WRONG! Just the new generation taking over old men. We got more money, energy, and can surf better. GET OUTTA MY WAY! Just think how many waves you guys would catch if you put all us youngsters on fatguy-funboards too? Stop being so greedy old men and we wont have to be so aggressive. Works both ways chumps...

The End is near for this one... - Went back to my favorite spot with my buddy TB (AKA The white Cat). Rosarito is starting to look like modern Socal. It will be only a matter of time before this spot gets the death sentence...Seen that new High rise going up? Yeah the camp is next...the sisters will sell that property to some rich developer, which will result in the old garde (Harry, Coach, Mitch) getting kicked out of a spot they loved and protected for so long!Real bummer that this spot will become extinct...had my best surf tr4ip there with the boys in August 2001 - 10-12 feet perfect waves!!!Yeah. now its the rich kids from the condos yelling and screaming like the own the place...Respect the locals...including the old garde from the camp, before they vanish and your spot becomes history!Harrry-thanks for letting me surf this spot for these years!
