In xela and looking to surf - I'm in Xela for 5 weeks for language school and looking for some surf. I need waves and to rent a board. I've been surfing Ventura county CA my whole life and I can surf anything. If anyone has any suggestions tell me.

I'm coming back to Guatemala city to live and teach english at the end of may but i won't have a car . I'm coming back with my son - I surfed virtually every Pacific coast spot in Guatemala from 79-81 accessing by boat, car, foot, etc. Best spots I found were Sipacate, Likin, Champerico, El Tulate and Tilapa, to name a few. I saw two other surfers the entire time. Beautiful country, great people and fun surf. Go there...it's worth it.

Guatemala is great - I have never thought that i could find that kind of wave in Guatemala, Powerfull, fast and hollow but also fun and safer than many other places i've been. No crowds, nice people, very low budget, hot water, beautyfull sunsets and sunrises. Definetly the place to go. And don't forget to contact "el paredon surf camp" you'll spent a pretty cool time with pretty good waves.

good spots in Guatemala - there are good spots in guatemala....nice fun beachbreacks.....all over the south cost....you can go to Sipacate, San Jose, Iztapa, Monte Rico.....the best spots are in Sipacate....in guatemala the surf is rising....now with luck we can se more than 20 surfers in the water...the people is nice....as well as the waves....you will have a lot of fun here......Recently we (a group of local surfers)brought a some californians surfers to these spots and they had a very good time in the water....they were happy to surf in warm waters....they said that they never imaging or spect to find those good spots in guatemala....If you are planing to come to surf in guatemala y suggest to contact to Adolfo Cruz (cruzadolfo@hotmail.com)he knows perfectly what are the knews of the surfing in guatemala.
