Boat from las Flores, a $40 U.S.D. gets you there and the boat stays with you the whole morning. The boat has capacity for 5 surfers. You can drive and hike but its not worth it. It blows out almost everday after 10 or so. Evening sessions are rarely worth the boat ride. If the swell is too small you can´t surf because its too shallow and not worth breaking a fin or scratching yourself up for weak waves.
It is a fairly new spot in El Salvador, it was found around five years ago. If you hit it on the right day and if you have the guts you will get a tube session you´ll never forget. Why do i say the guts? Because it´s a hollow very powerfull and fast wave.
General
I beleive that after Punta Roca it is the second best surf spot in El Salvador. Best bet is to use a surf tour in El Salvador, www.straybulletsurf.net
I got shot.
I got shot when I was using Punta Mango surf guides. Seriously, they led us into a firefight with local banditos. Then the guy from the US company that subcontracted them was a complete turd about the whole thing.

Fun Waves
Had a great time. Punta Mango is well worth the boat trip. Fun waves. Although it was a bit crowded, everyone seemed to do a good job of sharing the waves with the exception of “Peter” a half-german surf guide for the Miraflores surf camp who dropped in on everyone, including his paying clients… If you stay at Miraflores, I’d request a different guide.
