Dont go
This used to be my dream wave but now I never go. Last time I was out I got dropped in on EVERY Wave. Literally 50 kooks and 3 guys who ncould even ride the line. Just like PR now.

European-Surfer
This wave is fun, but poluted. Last time I surfed it in jan 2006 I smelled of human shit and had to drink about a half bottle of Brugal just to kill of all the bacteria. I woun't go there any more.

La Boya Sewage
La Boya is a great wave- probably one of the best rights in the DR. Unfortunately, it is full of garbage and sewage from a nearby sewage treatment plant that is out of order and from the Caucedo Harbor. Unless the waves are really good it is not worth the risk getting an unknwon infection.
Or at least wah off right after getting out of the water.
Guibia in downtown Santo Domingo is even dirtier- two rivers flow out of Santo Domingo into the sea- Ozama and Haina- Haina has the second highest degree of lead pollutants ( due to a defective battery plant upstream) in the world after Tchernobyl= you can only imagine what the currents do on the right day. Any local that says otehrwise is just happily ignorant- let them be so as they have probably developed some radioactive immunity from surfing there.

not a beach break
i surfed there feb.05 and it is a killer right reef break, usually not too crouded, and the water was crystal clear.one of the most fun rights i ever surfed for a goffy footed longboarder!

la boya garbage dump
I read somewhere on internet about La Boya "... breaks in
clean water..". Where does this guy get off !! Surfed their several times and always plenty of garbage in the water ... esp last time worse than Guibia downtown Santo
Domingo..something about the way the currents flow all the garbage just collects there everything in the garbage cans, dead animals and fish and most often little black specks floating on the water i guess grease, oil from the nearby harbor.... all in all a real garbage whole... although thier are some nice rights though small and only offshore early morning like never hardly ever in afternoon or even late morning. What a garbage hole!! Don't plan to go back... not worth the drive for more garbage than Guibia.

Right point
Breaks right over sharp coral and with lots of sea urchins. Beautiful warm clear water. Offshore everyday in the am and sometimes in the pm.....Republica Dominicana Rules!
