fun
i recently surfed encuentro march 5-10th. it was well overhead the first day closing out. very few people out there. after the storm cleared the area it was real fun 7-10ft in the mornings before the winds picked up. still alot of closeouts but worth it. there even was a whale jumping out of the water offshore one day. kind of a rough paddle out when it was big, but the locals were nice and enthusiastic. pretty crowded but no shortage of waves, and very good atmosphere in the lineup.

I loved Encuentro
I'm a beginner and I surfed Encuentro around Christmas. It was really fun and the locals were super friendly.

Encuentro is small but fun in June
I surfed Encuentro in June, had a great time, the waves were small but nice and fun. The thing that was cool is the vibe in the water, everyone is friendly and just out to have a good time.

Hey bro, listen, we don´t talk shit about Puerto Rico, we just say it like an example of localims in the Caribbean. Not because someone said that to me, is that I´ve been there many times, and couple of time locals send me to the inside to surf the bad waves, even if I show respect to them and many of them jump on my waves too. So let´s be clear here, the experiences talk! And there is more surfers that in DR. I don´t see dominicans are that rude in the water, of course if you arrived to the beach with 10 more friend and you guys want to surf the same spot of course dominican will claim for respect!

Surfers in DR likes to talk so bad of Puerto Rico, about localims and shit. . .let me tell something , is true that we can beat people that go there a do like dominicans surfers who likes to jump in all the waves.If you drop in you shuold be ready to get what you deserved.Just RESPECT!!

scool , and beginner place
i will be in cabarete in a week , i what to learn to surf ,, witch scool is the best... would like someting local to get the real flavour of the place. also would like to know if there is a specaial place for beginner to go practice.

Surfing Encuentro--> End of March / Begin April?
How is the surf for an beginner/intermediate surfer, end of march/ begin april? Good waves?
