Surf was up! - The wife and I stayed at Secrets Excellence in Uvero Alto Feb. 25-March 1 and the surf pumped the whole time we were there. We were confined to riding bodyboards because that's all we could find. We never saw any boards or surfers. The wind got on it early afternoon each day. The locals said the waves aren't usually this big(chest-head in the beachbreak, double overhead on the outside reefs). Some of the reef is dry but the beachbreaks were fun if the wind backs off.

AVISO A LOS VIAJEROS - bueno, estoy trabajando en la ONU, aca en haiti... de licencia fui a dominicana... lindo lugar, linda isla geograficamente hablando.. pero... los dominicanos, y no quiero generalizar eh!!! estan para joder al turista, les cobran todo mas caro que al resto de la gente, el visitante que se distraiga lo roban tontamente en todo sentido
los motoconchos apestan!
en la capital no se fien de nadie!
el viajero mochilero que ni se le ocurra ir! es todo para turistas de plata, que van a meterse en un hotel "all inclusive"
olas, solo en la epoca, si van lleven su equipo , alla es caro, idem la comida y todo lo demas!
la verdad no me gusto, no me senti comodo, voy a seguir conociendo los picos del continente sudamericano!
ahh! el dia que se arregle este HAITI, en la costa norte tendremos un gran sitio por explorar, el surf aca no existe!!! ARRIBA SUDACAS!!!

need tips!!! - Hi!
I’m a beginner surfer, I’ve surf only twice this summer in Wells U.S.A,
but I’m not bad at all!

I plan to go surf in Dominican Republic in february but I don’t know where is the best place to go, and most, can we rent board board around there?

If u have any advice for a first surftrip in central Amrerica...go ahead!

All inclusive resort? - Going to Dominican w/ girlfriend and am looking for an all inclusive resort that is right at a good break or close so I can leave her for awhile so I can go shred..

tips for beginners: nice spot? - Hi, I'm Virginia (french girl living in het netherlands) and a beginner surfer. I'm planning on going to the DR on march 2006. What is a good spot for beginners and a good school? Do beginners learn with long board here as well? any tips would be more than welcome, thanx in advance.

DR is it a good place to learn surfing ? - Hi,

I plan to go to DR in Janaurau with a friend of mine which has small level in surf.
Do you think it s a good place to go with here, I know theier are places with beach breaks.

Also, if you could send me information about places to sleep, and eat there, that would be great.

Grand Paradise Bavaro - report Oct 18th 2005 - We'll we arrived on our honeymoon yesterday to the Grand Paradise Bavaro resort WITHOUT my brand new Al Merrick I received at my bachelor party..... You guessed it. Straight out about 250 yards from the hotel are few reefs with 8 - 10ft surf, clean conditions. Today is 6ft sets with a slight onshore wind. My wife wants me to be able to surf while we are here, but noone knows where I can get a surfboard. That is why I am on the web searching. Macao beach is coming up a lot, but we'll see.
