wrong info!!!! - The info on the map is all wrong!!!! Beaches in wrong places etc... Not just a couple of miles but we'r talking 20 miles out here!!! You have no chance by following this map!!!
The info is out there if you can be arsed to search for it!! Hence, you must be looking at this site for a reason!!!

North Vs. South - Well, loads of answers then!!!!
Ive had a looka at a few swell charts and i recon it will be more consistent on the N side of the island... Swell seems to be more active in N hem at this time of year although some storms should be starting to brew in the S hem!!! The breaks look a bit fickle on the South side and would need a big swell... Plus all the decent accomodation I can find seems to be around the Puerto Plata area. There are more breaks in a small area here - less travelling!!!

no title - im going to playa dorada in puerto plata mid feb for a week. My son (17)and myself both surf,he is good, im ok. can anybody tell me where i can rent a longboard for myself my kid is bring his shotboard. We are renting a car and plan to surf early morning before the wind gets on it. Any info.on spots in the area would be a great help

to anonymous - I not only recognize all the beaches on this map, but we were the original discovers and "namers" of some of these beaches back i n the late 70's (79-81) and early 80's . I dont know who you consider "local" but everybody,(who has surfed the DR for a long time) knows all these beaches.

Which Side in March? - Going to go there on a surf mission with the missus - dont know which side of the island to head for in March???? Looks like a quality place - is there anywhere to hire surfing equipment as mine doesnt like the baggage handlers!!

playa grande or other spots - hey surf goddess, sounds like DR is a good place for surfing...any idea how far it is from cabarete to playa grande? easy to get there? any other recommendations for surfspots for intermediate surfers like me? Thanks a lot for your help!
