DR info - Going to DR in feb. Will be staying in puerto plata with girlfriend. Want to plonk her on a beach so i can sneak off and catch a cheeky wave or two (to all the surfing widows out there, i'm in no doubt that i'll rot in hell). Am intermediate level, riding mini-mal (starting to take on slower reefs etc) don't want to travel too far from plata. Is there any decent beach breaks, tamer reefs/points in the area? can i hire boards or should i bring all my own gear? Anyone looking for company out back? drop me a line. Any info greatly appreciated.

no title - Could someone please edit the D.R. I`m planning a trip next Jan/Feb and would appreciate anyone with an insight of the surf to pass on their knowledge. Is it crowded, expensive, easy to travel about and access the various breaks, wheres the best place to set up base, any affordable accomadation, is it safe, which coast has the better/most consistant surf, any D.R localslooking for a surf partner to show off your waves? Somebody help me please.

Is DR Good in January?.... - A buddy and I are trying to put together a trip in late December/early January and are considering the DR since Central America is more in the off season then.... Is DR good that time of year? What are the chances that we'll get good size, clean surf? Any advice or recommendations appreciated.

Tips for September? - My wife and I will be heading to DR for our first trip in September. Any tips for the best sites with quiet beaches, best intermediate waves without competition, and good places to rent longboards. Also any suggestions for renting cabinas or out-of-the-way hotels. Thanks.
