Additional Surfing Infos
Look out for the armed HUMVEES full of Marines, they'll steal your camera if they catch you taking pictures in the direction of the "top secret" prison camp on the bluff overlooking the beach... even if its digital and you can delete the pictures. The edges get shallow (less than 1ft) by the rocks.
  Overview
Atmosphere When ther is no break, GTMO has a small skatepark and is full of sweet hills for bombing on a long board, just watch out for iguanas, banana rats and MP's. There is NO NIGHTLIFE HERE!!
General When you get into the water line yourself up with the life guard chair and the light pole facing the water. Its a good spot when it breaks, plus, there is nothing else to do in GTMO. Well if you like humvees with machine guns riding by you all the time and navy boats guarding the coast then this is the spot for you. If you have been underway allot then hit up this spot it will put a huge smile on your face

High School memories
Veditz! how random it is to see you on this forum! I was just remenising about the good old days of surfing in GTMO and damn... found this. Gtmo isnt the best surf spot in the world, but it sure felt like home. The water temp is always perfect. As long as you manage to dodge the urchins and deal with the hydroids.... you can get some of the most fun waves ever. And dont be fooled by it's calm appearance at times (it can be flatter than a board some days). At least once a month, it pumps overhead.

Windmill Beach
The place brings back memories, not only did i get drunk for the first time on that beach by stealing beer out of jarheads coolers, i learned how to surf there back in my high school days. the waves weren't all that consistant but there was always something to catch. on the best of days only you and a few of your boys are out there. had to deal with the occasional puddle pirate, but after you showed them were to line up they usaully had a few beers for you on the beach. from april to august you had to watch out for hydrodes. its like chickenpox, itches like hell for about a weak and if you get them bad enough they scar for about a month. windmill is my first ride and my favorite ( although not the best) if your ever unfortunate enough to get stationed in gtmo definatly have to check it out. now the beach closes at night due to the prision camps right over the hill. damn terrorist ruin everything.

Good spot in the Winter
With the right swell, this place can rip... sharp sharp rocks though. There is a rock jetty if you go left and at low tide on even a descent swell, you'll start to see bare reef in front of you. The reason that you'd pretty much have to be in the military (or your parents) to surf there is becuase its on a US Navy Base surrounded by communist soil. The only way in or out is by ship or military plane... usually a C-130 transport or something. When there is no swell the reef is beautiful. Untouched.
