May trip - Planning a trip in May. Not sure whether to go to the Tamarindo area or to Jaco. Hearing good things about both places from people I know, but they've never been there. Anybody who's been there can tell me? Not so worried about the night life, just surfing and good food (and a couple of good local bars.)

Crocs - I wouldn't take a chance with them, they are killers and I don't think they get scared. I think they submerge when they are spotted and their sneak attack has failed. If you see one just get the hell out of there!

more crocs - The crocs also tend to float downstream and into the ocean after heavy rains. The larger amount of fresh water being poured into the sea allows them to tolerate the salty mixture for longer periods of time, and lots of food washes down with it. However, in most encounters the crocs will usually get scared away and splash but I'm not getting in the water when I see one of 'em !!! They are killers and they are survivors!!!

2 1/2 Hours? - Oh and it takes me 3 hours to get to Liberia too. By the way, I'm from Costa Rica and have lived here all my life in case you were wondering. I know my way around.

San Jose to Jaco - 2 1/2 Hours? It takes me less than an hour to get there. Maybe if you ride a donkey it will take you 2 1/2 hours.

an hour? lol - Try 2-1/2 hours from San Jose to Jaco unless you book a magic carpet ride.

No Car - If you are not going to rent a car your best bet is to go and stay at Loma del Mar in Jaco. Check www.rovercam.com for info. They will take you twice a day to the best breaks around and I think they can get you at the airport. Jaco is about an hour from San Jose. Have fun!!
