14km South of Hermosa beach, before you get to esterillos centro turn west off main highway drive down a couple km towards small fishing village, theres a couple smaller resorts north and smells like fish
probably just park your car by the small restaurant where all the toothless fishermen hang out, theres a small cabinas real cheap like 40 yds from beach, smells like fish everywhere, if its not quite big enough to be fun head to esterillos centro you can walk about 25 min or so. south of mermaid statue at resort down to centro all has little sandbars. good if centro is packed with people.

Atmosphere
atmosphere is great fisherman will take you out if you just help them out for a couple hours. great place to stay if on a longer vacation and need a couple weeks or days to save money and escape the sin pit that is jaco. also good to brush up on espanol skills because theres very few tourists or english speakers besides small resort north of where the road hits the beach. gorgeous wide white sandy beach can walk for miles if youre into that.

not the greatest spot but good if a beginner and hermosa is a little steep or closing out. easy to hitch to from jaco/hermosa due to highway closeby, but good to have a car. more at: http://www.surfcosta.com/refugio.html
Yes there was a croc attack here. Didn't kill the kid, but tore a nice chunk of his leg off though. Honestly though I surf here almost everyday, and have never seen one in the water.

Crocs
Hey, I was out here on saturday and someone told me that the croc attack that happened last November was here. I was told that after it rains, they get swept out of the estuary just down the way and make it out into the lineup sometimes, so be careful.
