Located just north of Jaco possible to drive in, but the only beach access is by a private club. Most people take a boat from Herradura, approx. $20-$40 per person.
Surfed Escondida last April and me and my two friends along with another surfer were chased out of the water by a large shark. The dorsal fin must have been at least a foot and a half out of the water along with a huge tail fin. Our boat had left us there and we had to paddle all the way in to the beach. We waited an hour for the boat to come back and had to paddle back out to where the large shark was to get back in the boat(at dark). Was a spooky experience so definitely keep in mind it is sharky there. We later talked to the local fisherman and they said sharks frequent there. We are assuming that it was a very large bull shark or possibly a tiger in the 10-12 ft range. Be aware.

No MORE GRINGOS in Escon
No se metan con Caliche hijueputas gringos. Por lo menos cuida el spot. Al primer gringo qe se ponga espeso le arranco un diente en el agua. ahi tienen a Roca Loca. Escondida es para ticos o gringos qe sepan surfear y respeten.
