Additional Surfing Infos
This is Costa Rica's version of Puerto Escondido, so bring more stick than you think you will need. Lots of broken boards.
  Overview
Atmosphere Great town, good people. This is a surf town but it is much less developed than Jaco and Tamarindo. Other spots in the area give you an alternative to this powerful break.
General Beautiful scenery. Picture a rain forest meeting the ocean.

About Dominical
I've been to Dominical a few times over the years and like'd it plenty. I've been surfing 20 years now, but a few feet overhead and up at Dominical is pretty brutal paddle-wise. I woke up one morning and it was about 3-4 feet overhead, perfect tide, etc. and I was literally the only one out. It took me 30 minutes to reach the lineup, I took one wave, pulled off, and turned around to see swells stacked to the horizon. I was like "To hell with that!" If you can catch it kind of in-between macking southwest swell events on a highish tide before the onshores come on (happens more than you might think), you'll have an all-time session. Truth be told, no one goes out when it gets over 10 feet (at least not when I've been there) as it's impossible to get out and it closes out - everyone goes to this kind of mediocre left point maybe 10 minutes south. Also, stay away from the deserted beach called Playa Hermosa about 15 minutes south of Dominical - my wife got mugged there while my brother and I were in the water.

RIght on!!!
Dominical is awsome, the breaks, the people, the food, it frikinīrocks!!! I hope it doesnīt turn into Mal Pais or Tamarindo, itīs still a virgin town with great waves and a beautifull forest that runs right into the break... Nice!

Drugs aren't so bad as long as I'm not the one doing them.
All I got to say is that while most people complain about the surfing coke heads here in Dominical I say god bless em. As long as they keep partying all night the morning line up will never be crowded- It's true that most of the transplants don't seem to be in the mood to surf until the afternoon winds are howling, which is quite all right by me.peace
