Ollie's Point
one of the best breaks in the world. and you dont have to be a pro to surf it. it was about 5 foot, but every single wave was exactly the same. could've surfed 10-15 footer!! the crowd is the only problem. only one place to take off from, and every body is jocking for it.
overnight boat trip took care of the crowd issue. i booked it with wavehunter for an overngiht boat trip.

ollie's point
The Good: probably the funnest, most amazing right in the world. very forgiving and long ride. just about anybody who surfs can and should surf here. so perfect, so fun, so easy.
The Bad: only one spot to take off from. if there is more than 5 people, it gets a bit crowded.
The Ugly: everybody and their aunties are here to surf it. it takes at least 3 hours to get to, no matter how you look at it.
Solution: I booked a boat charter.. www.costaricasurfcharters.com... only boat that is allowed to stay over at Witch's and Ollie's, and took care of the crowd! Took care of the food, Took care of the hotel. Took care of the "looking for surf".
i hooked up with www.surfex.com they took care of everything.

surfed out at ollies
scored some nice ones on 3-13 and 14th, would say in the 6 -8 range with the inside section produceing some very clean caves. Swell was all over CR so the crowed was not that bad. First day was only boat in for almost 2 hours. Labertino was going off and boats were stoping their on the way in. will send some picks. As far as the five boat rule goes ----BS

Be sure to avoid booking with Blue Trailz in Tamarindo
They'll overcharge you for the trip, and will lure you out there when the ocean is flat and they don't care about anything but $$$$ from unsuspecting tourists. I would use another booking agency as they are more honest about when to come out to this break.

nice spot
Definetely one of the longest waves in CR, the longest ride in Tamarindo area, if u get it with a good size and low tide u'll feel blessed...too many longboarders, just drop in behind the peak and u'll be cool...

Ya inlet
Thats the way to do it bro. Tell the world all about it so next time you and 30 of your best buddys can longboard together at dawn. Damn your brilliant or your never coming back and you did this out of spite. Ollies was good and can be good and you know just how to shred it. Huh?

UNREAL
Just got back from a 2 day trip to Ollies, I had heard all the stories about the crowds, however I REALLY wanted to see it. I call ed Surf Express and they have a Boat that can overnight at Ollies. Once all the Pangas left at 330 we had the wave all to ourselfs until it got dark then first thing in the morning we had it all to ourselves until the first Panga showed up. The wave was unreal like a machine, we finally got so tired we started letting waves (GOOD WAVES) go by. If your going to do the trip dont waste your money on the Panga trip do it the right way and get it by yourself. We surfed with the crowd and it gets frusterating and you dont get to experience the perfection of this wave while dodging the 30 kooks paddeling back out to the lineup.

ummm well i went in april of 06 and my boat was the only one out there for more than an hour when just one other boat showed up. if you really want it all to yourself the trick is to hit it when witch's rock is going off

Fun spot
I surfed there in May '05. There were 463 boats and 3,428 guys out surfing. Locals only. Stay away or I'll kick your ass! Blah blah blah! I'm such a tough guy and such a ripper 'cuz I've been surfing on a longboard for 3 years. These posts are so full of crap.
