Guanacaste: beautiful province due to many gorgeous beaches and great surfing, volcanoes and tropical climate. According to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, the Province of Guanacaste is known principally for its cattle production, to the rest of us its warm-water and a great variety of waves. attraction for nationals and foreigners alike. Hotels of all categories from bottom-dollar to top-of-the-range luxuary hotels can be found scattered along the coast. Most hotels can help arrange tours to visit Costa Rica's non-surfing attractions. Tamarindo is a surf-zoo, Nosara is slowly being developed as is Mal Pais. Tamarindo is your best bet for surf shops board-rental etc, and car rental should be done from San Jose.

Board rental
Loads of cheap rental gear in tamarindo (15$/d). nosara and santa teresa offer fewer options.
