By anonymous , 04-02-2006
Bula Surf Shop - Bula Surf Shop, located in the Royal Plaza mall, stocks boards and any accessories you might need. They're friendly and helpful and will get you headed in the right direction. There is surf in Aruba!

Found a board - After researching online, i knew my biggest obstabcle would be finding a board. "Sandy" who teaches kite surfing just north of the marriot, rented me a 7'6 fun board for 30$ a day. Pretty steep, but thats all i found. the local surf store at Royal Plaza will not rent b/c insurance issues if people got hurt with their boards.During my stay, the winds turned from the NE to the NW and blew onshore, and the waves came in. Stayed at the aruba phoenix and actually got some nice short rides. The bottom is sand/rock reef. It was safe. The waves were very slow and difficult to catch. Overall, enjoyed my 3 days of surf, especially being a great lake surfer now stuck in Michigan. The water was super warm, at least 80 degrees. Yes there is surfable waves in aruba, i'm a believer and would go back
