Theres nothing to do in vanuatu my ass. I lived there for 2 years and every weekend i went surfin, moto riding, blue lagoon, scuba diving, fishing, cascades, driving and the surf was sweet all year round.

swell direction pango beach and pt. faces south, there is no way a NW swell is going to come into pango. The best swell is SE for the lefts (which are the best) and a SW for the rights (which are still fun) any North wind is good.

Not Consistant Bryn is right, I was there two weeks and had filthy waves on only one day (a smaller, shorter version of Teahopu). The rest was like any Pacific destination, really windy or flat. There isn't much to do on Vanuatu so if you luck out, you will be bored shitless. A chick or stack of bongo mags is as necessary as wax. The rides are also pretty short and believe me when I say the coral is sharp, not for the faint hearted, and there are no beach breaks. If you are looking for a surf holiday, I don't think this is it, more of a bonus if you decide to go to Vanuatu for other reasons.

be Wary I live over here and its a great place, but the surf ain't that great. Its restricted to a couple of small breaks(100+metre rides is someone being delusional) just out of town (both left and rights) Unfortunately a couple of resort owners(non surfers), who whilst being good people are unfairly pushing their resorts as "surf camps" or the like. If your keen on coming over for a surf, expect to be let down and you'll come away happy when you get 2-3'. For the adventurous types there is no doubt that Tanna and the smaller islands south of Tanna hold HUGE potential as they arn't being blocked by New Cal. Last but not least if you do come over for a holiday, bring a banged up board from cashies or whereever and leave it with the kids at Pango village, they will be stoked. I know I sound like some yokel talking the place down, the place does get good, it just is far from consistent.

Vanuatu Surf Hi guys, as the tourist office manager of Vanuatu in NZ and having been there loads of times I can assure you that there is many a decent break in Vanuatu. Then Main island is so so ( Efate ) but when you get to Tanna and the likes you would all be very happy.
