The real truth
Ignore the previous two postings, they obviously donīt know their new zealand geography very well, because any one thatīs visited this stretch of coast will tell you..it pumps ! 4ft on a good day, unquote..thats an average day down these parts. You see, this coast gets constant batterings from the almost daily south swells and southern ocean storms. To surf down here is a true test of stamina, and in some instances, courage, as you are often surfing alone. Cold water, big waves in winter are the go. Ah, also, itīs fairly well known for great whites and other sharp toothed creatures as well. But the waves are of high quality, raw ocean power, and unforgiving. If you like solitude, adventure and ball shrinking weather systems, come down to the south coast, and you will truely savour "southern hospitality."
