Head south from New PLymouth along the Surf Hiway. About 5km after Okato turn right down Puniho road or walk across from graveyards there are detailed maps and aerial photos http://www.geocities.com/clickmap/spots/taranaki/taranaki.html
Puhnio's is a great A-frame wave with a steep take-off leading to a nice workable wall. Occasional tubes when the wind is strong offshore. Short bowly right...longer lefts.
