fences
just scored at 3 foot, very clean, pealing for 300 meters, oponaki had been tripple over head and light offshore, went the soft option but hadn't scored a wave as long in my 20 years of surfing!Watch your car though, it can be rugged if we know your from out of town!!!.Enjoy!

Yeah you gotta rate Fences
I always check it out when driving to Taras. Hardly ever breaks but when it does its great. We really kooked it up one day when it was looking really nice but we got greedy and decided to check Opunaki. Yep two hours later the SW wind came in and blew the coast to shreds. Missed it. Talked to an old guy who surfed it in the 70s and he said on a huge swell you can get from Waitotara right through to the inside. Not sure about that but when its on it is definatly a great wave. Plus cause its so hard to get, theres nothing like telling all ya mates ya scored - "FENCES! yeah man , rides all the way from Waitotara to the inside, you losers should have been there!"
