Additional Surfing Infos
The Shark Island of Taranaki!!! This is a very extreme wave breaking in very shallow water. Usually charged by local bogie boarders but on bigger swells becomes a stand-up spot as well. Wear a helmet! A long paddle makes this wave fairly uncrowded due to the number of other great waves available in the region with instant access. Be prepared for a twenty minute paddle out.
  Overview
Atmosphere Locals are great, visitors welcome to share waves as long as you have respect for the locals and wait your turn... awesome views of Mt Taranaki make this a picture perfect place to surf!

east swells best
the reef is my fav spot-works best on big east/,s/e swells with south winds, heavy local crew-we like to moniter our waves-don't mess with the pecking order.

bollocks
sharky, and only breaks twice a year and is usually blown out as its so far offshore and is very exposed to the wind-wouldn't bother
